Plascon Group is one of the Northern Michigan companies featured in this month's edition of Traverse the Magazine. The publication, in cooperation with the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce, created a supplement called "Careers" that highlights companies in the area that are prospering. The piece also is meant to be used as a recruiting tool for employers looking to attract people to our area. "We all live here and we know that Traverse City is a great place to live and work," said Jennifer Borkovich, Marketing Director at Plascon. "When we are trying to hire talented people to add to our team, it's important that they understand the benefits of living here and factor that into their decision to relocate. This piece is one document that we can give them to try to explain that."

The article focuses on the relationship between Plascon Group and Grand Traverse Industries (GTI). GTI purchased a Turn Key Work Program from Plascon for the manufacture of plastic bags. They now produce trash can liners for the State of Michigan as well as local organizations like Munson Medical Center, Northwestern Michigan College and Grand Traverse Resort. This successful partnership has created jobs for workers with disabilities in Northern Michigan, generated revenue for GTI to support other programs and increased film sales for Plascon. 

In May, Plascon Group was named the 2012 Hagerty Small Business of the Year by the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. The company was also named a Michigan 50 Companies to Watch award winner in 2011.
